Cardinal is a poetic meditation on our proximity to nature, exploring how digital tools help us remediate our relationship with (and experience of) earth.
A python script joins natural language processing of source texts with an image captioning neural network to produce unique, haiku-style alt text based on a series of speculative flower video sculptures generated by AI. Intertwined are narratives attesting to the resilience and endurance of our civilization and species, challenging our notions of the creative potential of emergent technologies to support our mental well-being, inspiring a deeper affinity with nature.
I also designed and created these limited-edition Risographs printed on 215 gsm French Dur-O-Tone recycled paper featuring images and text from the site. Each print is accompanied by a unique AI generated alt text poem and 25% of proceeds are going towards the Sunrise Movement to help champion the Green New Deal. ヽ(·̿̿‿·̿✿)ﾉ
